We wish you a peaceful, joyful holiday season filled with love, laughter, and happiness. Classes resume Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 (BCCI/BCEC classes resume Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026).

Students in the Arts & Crafts interest group enjoyed their last meeting of the semester by creating a project led by visiting artist Marga Fripp. Marga is the executive director of the Pollinators Foundation, a non-profit in Waynesville dedicated to fostering well-being through therapeutic art experiences. Students made a collage with the prompt to create a Winter Sanctuary with what brings them light and warmth during this season. @margacfripp

Final Exams for the fall semester is this week! Here is what our schedule looks like! First and Second years who are on campus but do not have a 5th block will have a designated place to be on the 18th, if they are not picked up.

Good morning, again, BCS Families.
Transportation crews have continued to monitor travel conditions and consult with Emergency Management crews. With temperatures remaining below freezing, and travel issues on many secondary roads across the county, Buncombe County Schools will now switch to an asynchronous remote learning day and optional teacher workday today, Thursday, Dec. 11 2025.
All assignments will be posted by teachers by 10 a.m., or students may have brought home paper packets. Students will have up to 5 school days to complete assignments and will be counted present for the day/class period upon completion of assignments.
Lunch for the day will be available to eat in the cafeteria between noon to 1:00 pm at the following locations: A.C. Reynolds Middle School, Black Mountain Primary, Candler Elementary, Emma Elementary, Estes Elementary, Leicester Elementary, and North Windy Ridge Intermediate.
Students are able to eat at no charge at any of the above locations, and parents can purchase a meal for $5.25 if they desire. A la carte items are also available for purchase.
Stay safe, and have a good day!

Good morning, BCS Families.
Our BCS Transportation teams have been out monitoring travel conditions. Due to a wintry mix that’s fallen across our area since late last night, and freezing temperatures causing the potential for black ice on some secondary roads, Buncombe County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for students today, Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025. Buses will not travel on icy roads. This delayed start will give DOT crews extra time to treat any problem areas, and allow for safer travel with more daylight.
Breakfast will be served to students when they arrive at school.
While conditions are forecast to improve, BCS Transportation teams will continue to assess roadways. We will update you should we need to further alter today’s school schedule.
Thank you. Be safe, and have a good day!
