Students apply to attend Early College in the spring of their 8th grade year.

Students from any of our six attendance districts in Buncombe County Schools can apply. Also, 8th graders who attend a private, charter, or home school AND who are residents of Buncombe County may apply.

Each year, 60 new students will be selected to attend through an application and lottery process.  Those who are not selected by the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.

Our team visits Buncombe County Middle Schools during the spring of each year to inform students about BC Early College, announce application times, and make students aware of open house dates.

The application period for the 2024-2025 school year was open from February 1 - March 29, 2024. Applications are now closed. Check back for a live application link below for the 2025-2026 school year in the spring of 2025.
