Four visitors from Treasured Trees visited our campus on Monday May 1st. Mr. Mallory's 4th Block Earth Environmental Class helped to dedicate five trees to join the Swannanoa Valley's local list of rare trees. Rarity is based on species, but primarily on the significant size and age of each individual tree. Mr. Mallory helped in the selection process last school year. Each tree got a permanent plaque with its common and scientific name, along with a QR code for more information. These trees can be visited by walking throughout the campus (after school hours), each tree adding to the value of our schoolyard's diverse natural habitat.
