BCECBuncombe County Early College is changing possibilities and changing the future – for students who will graduate well-prepared for a world that needs confident thinkers, effective collaborators,  and engaged citizens like never before. This small, innovative school sets expectations high for all students, with an accelerated approach that blends high school with the first two years of college. Students have the opportunity to graduate with a high school diploma and an associate’s degree or college credential– all at no cost to their families.

Application eligibility: 
Students apply to attend Early College in the spring of their 8th grade year. 

Students from any of our six attendance districts in Buncombe County Schools can apply. Also, 8th graders who are residents of Buncombe County, within one of our six attendance districts, and attend a private, charter, or home school may apply.

Each year, a maximum of 60 ninth grade students will be selected to attend through an application and lottery process based on selection criteria.  Those who are not selected by the lottery will be placed on a waiting list.

The application period for the 2021-2022 school year ended on  April 2, 2021.
